The American dream for Blanche de Liège Rosée
The Abbaye du Val-Dieu Brewery continues to expand its export business
This week, our sales director, Lionel Delbart, flew to the United States, accompanied by our Blanche de Liège Rosée. This trip is of paramount importance for the Brasserie de l’Abbaye du Val-Dieu, marking a major step forward in the international development of our Abbey beers.
What was on the agenda? Nine contracts signed: one in San Francisco and eight more to come in Los Angeles. A real success that places our brewery at the top of the list of Belgian companies that have concluded the most deals as part of the Belgian economic mission to California.
A declining market – a booming brewery
However, the beer consumption market (both pilsners and speciality beers) is in overall decline in Belgium and abroad (-20% over the last fifteen years). ‘For us, it’s the opposite,’ says Lionel Delbart. Our network of partners is constantly expanding, whether in the HoReCa sector, retail or exports. As a result, our Val-Dieu beers are now available in 26 countries around the world!
Standing out to shine brighter
According to Lionel Delbart, the success of our brewery in the US is based on a unique asset: all our beers are brewed within an abbey founded in 1216. ‘Of the 26 abbey beers in Belgium, 25 are not made in abbeys: we are the only ones,’ he reveals with pride.
Furthermore, the American market is fond of the products our brewery offers. With its fruity taste, lightness and design reminiscent of the spirit of Liège, our Blanche de Liège Rosée in cans is a real hit with Americans.

So what about the impact of Trump's tariffs?
Despite the 15% tariff imposed by US trade policy, our exports to the United States continue to grow.
This is excellent news for our brewery, which continues to invest in state-of-the-art facilities and showcase Belgian expertise internationally!
